Happy Halloween Everyone! Long-time followers know this is my favorite holiday and this year I’m in the Halloween spirit more than I have been in what seems like forever. I’ve been spending much time reminiscing about those wonderful Halloweens growing up. I was a product of the 80’s and I feel this was the prime time for Halloween. While I only did trick or treating in the early years, by the time I was 8 we were the house to go to on Halloween. My parents would spend weeks decorating and getting everything ready. I am sure my parents spent a good bit on decorations and candy than should have, but I am so grateful for these memories that no amount of money could have bought.
Anytime I start thinking about those nights, I laugh and smile so much. Those were certainly magical times and would give anything to experience those nights again. Living in the country certainly makes it difficult to get trick-or-treaters but wonder if I could build up to be that house people in the area stopped at while going to the big neighborhoods.
While I may not get trick-or-treaters, that doesn’t stop me from decorating or getting the spirit in full swing. This Halloween I created some pumpkin nails, one of my favorite Halloween traditions. For my pumpkin nails, I used Reverse Polarity by SuperChic Lacquer with some black stamping polish and the Marinanne Nails Halloween Stamping Plate. I bought this plate years ago specifically for the pumpkin faces but my nails were always too long to get a good look. This year I trimmed them and LOVE how they turned out!
Now I have a slight obsession with pumpkins….like everything spook pumpkin so that is what my decorations consist of. Lots of pumpkins! I hope to one year have my porch filled with PUMPKINS! I’ve thought about even planting a pumpkin patch on my land to get even more pumpkins. Over the years since moving into my home, I have slowly accumulated enough pumpkins that people who do not know where I live know my house when they drive by. Some pieces are vintage, some are new, and some I even made myself.
So do you think if I put a sign on the road saying trick-or-treaters welcomed, people would stop? I am seriously considering it! I want trick-or-treaters! I want to see their cute costumes, the magic in their eyes, and excitement when I drop candy in their buckets! Thank you so much for stopping by this evening and I hope you all have a wonderful Halloween!
