Good afternoon! I hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! It’s a dreary, chilly weekend so I thought this would be a great time to think of warmer, sunny weather and share with you guys my trip to Dauphin Island in Alabama.
I have wanted to visit Dauphin Island for quite a few years now, even more so after getting my big ole girl Sally. Dauphin Island is a little island just 5 hours from my home and minutes from Mobile. Dauphin Island measures just 15 miles from one end to the other and is one of those last beach towns that has been taken over by corporate America. You won’t find high-rise condos, chain restaurants, or big box stores. What you get instead is tons of beachside homes, local restaurants, and mom-and-pop shops.
We had planned a vacation for Fall, our first real couples vacation, and wanted somewhere we could take our dog and enjoy some fun times without all the everyday stress. Dauphin Island ended up being the best spot and we are thrilled that we finally made it down. We rented a cute little house on the bayside but had full gulf access in front. We were able to walk West End Beach, take Sally across the street to enjoy the gulf, walk along the bayside, and have the best sunset views.
I took a few shots of our rental on the inside before checkout but you can see how amazing this place was. Very open with great views from every window, three decks to enjoy the beaches from any angle, and a cozy spot to watch those sunsets.
The first night there we ordered pizza from Pirates Pizza, had a few drinks on the front deck, took in all the ocean area, and then closed out the night playing cards. This rental was chock-full of games and plenty do.
The next day ended up being quite chilly and cloudy, but the second day was full sun with perfect weather. I found some of the largest seashells ever, Sally chased birds, and Kevin got to run the beach with her. We spent pretty much all day at the beach and closed out the night at Pirates Bar and Grill.
If you are looking for a sleepy beach community, you have to check out Dauphin Island! We were so happy with our stay and the location, we booked a week as soon as we got back home. I am counting down the days for when we go back. If you need a company to rent from, check out ACP Rentals! They have tons of great homes and are so easy to work with. This trip was a trial run so only had two full days, next time we’ll have four! Thank you so much for stopping by today and I will see you all again soon!
